It is good practice to check the internet connection before you start a live stream video. At the conclusion of a speed test, you’ll be presented with results for both the download and upload speeds. Pay attention to the results of your UPLOAD speed.
STEP 1
Click GO to begin the test.
STEP 2
The test will go through several phases.
When complete, click the 'Share This Result' button.
STEP 3
A pop-up window will display. Highlight and copy the link to share the image.
What can you do with the results of your speed test?
Take a look at the results of your upload speed. The general rule of thumb and common recommendation is to change the bitrate on your encoder so that it is HALF of the upload speed.
- In our example, the result for the upload speed is 5.43 Mbps, which is approximately about 5430 kbps.
- With this information, it is recommended to adjust the bitrate on the encoder so that it is about half of the upload speed.
- Half of 5430 kbps is 2715 kbps. The encoder bitrate should be set to around 2500 kbps.
Adjusting the bitrate so that it is half of your upload speed is just a general recommendation. Please keep in mind that there are other factors that can affect the quality of your stream. Are there other devices sharing the bandwidth?
