Choosing a server closest to your location is important for reducing latency and producing high-quality broadcasts. Let's match you up with the right one!
Currently, Switchboard Cloud has 10 server regions for you to choose from.
Your goal is to choose the closest location to you and your encoder from the drop-down list.
Not sure which region to select? We recommend the following:
- US (geo-based) if you're located inside the US
- Global (geo-based) if you're located outside of the US
STEP 1
Press the source tab located below the Switchboard Confidence monitor.
STEP 2
Press the down arrow directly below the label Stream/ Server URL.
STEP 3
Choose a server region.
Choose the Server Region closest to your location:
-
- Asia (geo based)
- Australia
- EU( geo based)
- Global (geo based)
- South America
- UK
- US (geo based)
- US Central
- US East
- US West
HIGH FIVE!
You are ready to copy and paste the Server URL and Stream Key into the stream settings of your encoder.
IMPORTANT: Remember to update the information inside of the encoder stream settings whenever you make changes to your Switchboard RTMP information.
Why would you need to choose a Server Region that isn't near your location?
Let's say you're collaborating with another person and they will be sending content from their encoder into your Switchboard Account.
- Think about the location of their encoder, we recommend that you choose the Server Region closest to it.
- Remember, if you are unsure, you always have the option to choose US geo-based or Global geo-based.
