This support article will walk the user through the steps on how to change, rename or delete an encoder workflow from the Switchboard Account.
Why would you Need to Rename your Encoder Workflow?
- You've decided to use a new encoder and want to keep the workflow set up.
- Your Switchboard Account has more than one encoder workflow with the same name, it may make sense to rename the workflow to help identify each one better.
Take a look at this account below.
It has 3 OBS encoder workflows, two of the workflows will be used by two separate team members, and one will be used by the main Switchboard Account holder.
To further identify the encoder workflow and avoid confusion, we often recommend to rename each encoder workflow.
Rename the Encoder Workflow
Click the "CONFIG" button located below the confidence monitor.
Type the new name in the field.
You can even change the color of the source reference.
Next to the Source Name, click the color code Icon.
Choose a color from the palette.
Delete an Encoder Workflow
Read this before you delete an encoder workflow from your Switchboard account.
You actually might not need to delete the encoder workflow from your Switchboard account. If you've decided to go with a different encoder, you can simply grab the streaming information (Server URL & Stream Key) located below the confidence monitor and paste it into your new encoder.
A workflow scenario could include something like this:
Monday you can use Zoom and Tuesday you can use OBS. Both encoders are configured for the same Switchboard encoder workflow, but you can alternate between the two. You just can’t have ZOOM and OBS streaming to the same encoder workflow at the same time. ( Depending on your subscription type, you can have more than one encoder workflow to your Switchboard Account)
Keep in mind, it is most important that you are using the correct Server Region for your location. Grab the Server URL and Stream Key and paste inside the settings of the new encoder workflow that you are using.
CAUTION: You will lose any Destination Groups that were part of the deleted workflow.
-
Important Concept
- Remember each workflow is independent of each other and houses its own set of destinations. If you delete the workflow, then the destinations that existed in the workflow will return to the destination manager page.
- The destination manager page is the location that lists all of the destinations that exist in your Switchboard Account.
- Destinations in your Switchboard account exist either on a workflow or the destination manager page.
- Remember each workflow is independent of each other and houses its own set of destinations. If you delete the workflow, then the destinations that existed in the workflow will return to the destination manager page.

Accidentally deleted the incorrect encoder workflow
What should you do if you've accidentally deleted the incorrect workflow from your Switchboard Account?
You'll need to create a new encoder workflow and grab the new streaming information(Server URL and Stream Key) located below the confidence monitor and put this information into the encoder streaming settings.

How to Add More Encoder Workflows to a Switchboard Account
Make sure to test the connection between the newly added encoder with your Switchboard Account. Turn on the encoder, and verify that the video is present on the Switchboard Cloud Confidence monitor.
Congratulations! You have successfully connected your Switchboard Account with another encoder.
